MRF Visit from Kathmandu Metropolitan City Environment Department



Last 23 July 2019, the Head of  the Environment Management Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Environment, Mr. Hari Kumar Shrestha, took a inspection to the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) of the hotel Hyatt Regency Kathmandu. After this visit, Mr. Shrestha found more about the   waste management model implemented by BW2V. BW2V briefed him about the source segregation, transfer and re-segregation of waste into various reciclables processes. The dry waste is segregated and stored into the chambers whereas the wet waste is turned into compost. Mr. Shrestha also visited the compost making facility and was impressed by the integrated solid waste management practices happening on the ground. He shown his interest in collaborate with BW2V to implement a similar model in different wards of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Blue Waste to Value Pvt. Ltd. (BW2V) manages the solid waste generated from the hotel Hyatt Regency Kathmandu since December 2016. Since the beginning, BW2V has implemented the source segregation model along the with placement of separate bins for separate waste collection with proper visibility.
