Hyatt Regency Kathmandu located near the holiest Buddhist shrine (Boudha), offers 280 rooms including 7 suites, 35 Regency Club rooms, 3 F&B outlets & large banquet space.
BW2V entered into a solid waste management contract with Hyatt Regency Kathmandu in September 2016. The hotel generates on average of 800 kg of waste every day.
Waste Management at Hyatt Regency Kathmandu
Before Involvement of BW2V
Similarly to the situation at the other hotels, waste was not being properly managed. The hotel had appointed a waste collection agency which was collecting the waste and sending it directly to the landfill without proper segregation and processing. Furthermore, the team lacked knowledge on waste management practices.
After Involvement of BW2V
In December 2016, BW2V started implementing a proper waste management service at the hotel. It has begun training the team and introducing them to the various concepts of waste management.
The objective is to implement the below-mentioned processes:
BW2V aims to reduce the amount of waste that Hyatt Regency Kathmandu used to send to the landfill by implementing integrated solid waste management approach, minimizing their carbon footprint and environmental impact. Through proper training & awareness building, we want to build ownership of the project among the various operating teams.
